Can You Use Google Assistant with the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3?

You can control the music that is playing on your Megaboom 3 with Google Assistant, but entirely through your phone. The Megaboom 3 has the "Magic Button," but that is merely a shortcut of sorts to get to playlists on Apple Music or Deezer Premium. If your UE speakers are not connecting to your Google Home device, then the first thing you should do is to check the Bluetooth connection. Your browser is not supported or outdated so some features of the site might not be available.

Luckily, you can connect your UE Boom or Megaboom to Google home/nest devices and control the speaker with voice commands. You can pair a Bluetooth speaker located in the living room with the Mini and have audio play from both at the same time. Depending on the size of your home and the number of smart and Bluetooth speakers you already own, you could have the same song play throughout every area. One of the chief complaints about the Nest Mini is its poor audio.

Google Home – Sound quality

Some music apps, like Spotify, may let you select a group visually. Either way, this is a great way to experience multi-room audio without having to buy expensive smart speakers for every room. To pair a Nest Mini with a Bluetooth speaker, open the Google Home app, and go to the Mini's Audio options under Settings . Select Paired Bluetooth devices followed by Enable pairing mode, then go back to the Audio menu and tap Default music speaker to choose your Bluetooth output.

Whether you use the app or press the button, HYPERBOOM lets you connect, switch, and crank up the jams. The one thing the Mini is not known for, though, is audio quality. Fortunately, you can pair the Mini to a Bluetooth speaker, letting you crank out your tunes in high fidelity. You’ll need to have your Boom speakers paired with a smartphone for the voice commands to work, and you’ll need the latest version of the UE Boom or Megaboom app on the paired phone. The good news about this new addition is that, because both speakers are waterproof, that you no longer need to have your phone anywhere near water to use voice commands.

To activate the speakers’ listening mode, all you have to do is briefly press the Bluetooth button on the speakers themselves. You’ll hear the same chime you would when you tap the microphone icon on your smartphone or say “OK, Google” (or “Hey Siri”) to fire up your voice assistant. Note that you’ll have to talk to your Nest devices to issue commands — the mics on your Bluetooth speakers won’t help.

And with its sleek silhouette, speckled two-tone fabric, and stylin’ pull-out strap, it’ll rock any event, anywhere—from the living room dance-off to the rooftop rager. Powerful precision woofers, huge passive radiators, and soft-dome tweeters deliver a high-fidelity listening experience — so you get vibrant, lifelike audio at any volume. Delivering truly epic sound with extreme bass and adaptive EQ, HYPERBOOM brings the party. You can't add the Bluetooth-connected-speaker to your groups though, like u/Houndizzle805 said. The only thing you can do is connect a Google speaker to a Bluetooth non-Google speaker to make that one Google speaker connect to and play from the Bluetooth speaker.

For the best audio quality, it would make sense to buy one of our best Bluetooth speakers. Calls are made over the internet using Google’s telephony service. Call quality is excellent and as good as making a call using a strong mobile signal. This feature is particularly handy when you’ve left your phone somewhere and want to make a call. It’s also useful if you don’t get a lot of minutes with your mobile plan.

If you’re at the beach, for example, you might not want to risk bringing your phone near the water, even though the speaker you’re using is waterproof. In a case like that, users might want more detailed control over playback than simply skipping forward or backward through a playlist. Oh, the speakers also do this with Siri, apparently. The feature is apparently activated via the respective UE Boom and Megaboom apps, so check them for updates on your smartphone. But hey, maybe if and when Google Assistant features roll out, these Logitech speakers could become a poor man's Google Home. I was able to hook it up via Bluetooth but it has sync issues with the rest of the speakers so to your point, it’s useless.

A Google Home Device is a speaker in its own right but if you are a picky listener, or want something more than casual listening, we would suggest you connect it to a better speaker. If the problem persists, then you can try factory resetting your UE speaker and your Google Home device. THE PARTYGOES ON

The Google Assistant can dial out with your mobile phone number as the caller ID, provided you manually set this within the Home app on your phone. Smartly, the Google Assistant can pull in your contacts from your Google account, letting you dial anyone as though you were using your phone. And, if you perform a local business search, you can call these numbers easily, too. Google Home is a powerful smart speaker, powered by the smartest voice assistant and a growing range of smart device support. But in most cases involves pressing and holding a button indicated with the Bluetooth logo, as on this UE Megaboom.

To keep the speaker’s design as uncluttered as possible, there’s only one physical button on the Google Home. It disables the microphone, if you don’t want the speaker to listen in on you. You can also group the Bluetooth speaker with others, so that you can set up audio for multiple rooms, without needing a Google Home device in every room.

I've had to go back to using the old Megaboom app, because the setting for remote power on and off absolutely kills the battery. This means that in between sessions, the battery is dead, meaning you need to charge the speakers even when you haven't used them. Why not just update the app, and allow us to turn it off?
